instruments, etc. We have 30 years of experience
sharpening for the nation's medical and professional
beauty industry.
We are especially careful
to ensure that your blades are returned to
you sharpened to the highest quality.
We now offer online payment
for our services.
While in Japan, my wife Hiroko and I were invited to a tour and demonstration of scissor making techniques at the
Masutaro Scissor Factory, one of Japans oldest scissor factories, where all the scissors are made by hand.
The owner, Kimio Iwata, then took us to his friend, Hirokazu
Mizutani,
president of Mizutani Scissors
MFG., where we were treated to
an Italian dinner and discussed the business of scissor manufacturing and marketing, and how they are being serviced throughout the world.
Each of these Artisans was less interested in the business of making money, but instead they were more concerned that each of their
works of art finds its way into the proper hands. Their hope is that they will be
treated and maintained with the same respect and proper care that went into making them.
It was truly an honor but bitter sweet experience to be in their company, knowing I am rarely going to meet anyone
with such decency and integrity in our industry. However, I did mention I knew of one hair stylist
that shared their same values and vision in her practice. It was a stylist who pursued perfection in her craft. That stylist is Tabatha Coffey.

I had been "factory" trained as a scissor sharpener, with all the latest tools I thought. Then I met Glenn Borenstein of Shear Integrity over the
phone. I needed to replace a pair of shears that had been damaged by
another sharpener, and I was being held responsible for them because thats
the way it works sometimes. And we talked. We struck up a professional
relationship right away, which led to him taking me under his wing, and
training me through corespondence with email, phone, and even shipping
different items back and forth through the mail.
I was a good sharpener with a good and growing reputation for a year prior
to meeting Glenn. But after, and following his instruction and technique
to the letter, my sharpening improved 100%.
Now I consider Glenn a good friend, and would tell anyone that if you have
the chance to train with him, listen and follow his teachings to the
letter. You will be glad you did, and so will your customers.

Facts:
- If you had your shears or thinners
sharpened in the past by another service and
you were not satisfied by the quality of the
job, we will reconstruct the blade at no extra
charge. (i.e. if too much critical metal was
removed, we will put on the appropriate edge;
if your convex edge was replaced with a bevel,
we will roll the edge).
- All repairs such as balancing,
refurbishing the bevel, setting, straightening
of blades and replacement of screws and plastic
silencers are done free of charge.
Caution:
All shears and thinners, when returned, are
extremely sharp. Because each blade is
individually custom hand honed, they are usually
sharper then when bought new. If you are
not comfortable or use to a razor edge on your
shears, then you can cut a piece of end paper
or a paper towel, using the full length of the
blades 2-5 times or until desired comfort is
reached.
Sharpening is an attempt at
perfection. The most interesting aspect of sharpening

have written confirmation from Shear
Integrity before sending swords

integrity, please allow 2-4 weeks turnaround on
most sword refurbishing.
- Shear
Integrity, at its own discretion,
reserves to right to decline any work deemed unsuitable
for sharpening and repair. If any work is deemed
unsuitable for sharpening or repair, the customer
will be charged only for returned shipping and
handling fees.
